Snickers & Cheech, our first boys!

We have been together for over 20 years, and residents of New Hope for as long. These are our Furbabies. We adopt from & support Animal Alliance NJ.
Steve & I are strong advocates for adoption and spay/neuter of all pets. Please visit Petfinder and adopt your next, best friend - and support your local animal rescues and animal shelters.
Most importantly, find a good trainer or puppy class when you bring home a new pup & lessen the chance of it becoming another shelter statistic.

We have had Pooky, a Sheltie mix(?) since she was 8 weeks old. She turned 14 in July 2008. We joke that her lack of personality actually IS her personality.
Our "Steal Magnilia", MAGGIE
We lost our Mags in June 07. She was a semi-sweet, 8 pound Chihuahua adopted from Animal Alliance NJ in 2005. Her death was sudden and unexpected. It was a huge shock. I cried for three days.

CHEECH... We adopted Cheech, my first boy ever, in fall 2007 at age 5. Cheech's rotund body moves in one unit like a log with stumpy, little legs. I still laugh every time he runs to me, it is the funniest waddle run I have ever seen! We are still working on his ever, on-guard, reactive personality ... yet he is actually a very sweet boy & the most loyal, devoted dog I have ever had. Cheech & I have a very strong, inseparable bond.
When I look at my boys face, I see a very old soul who is always thinking - and appears to be carrying the weight of the world on his face.
We think Cheech is a Doxie-Chihuahua mix. He is extremely dedicated & loving to us and his sister, CeCe. His nick name is Bubba Zamboni !

Cheech & his sister, CeCe. They were raised together, but are not biologically related as far as we know. We think CeCe is a Chihuahua-Italian Greyhound because she has so many of the IT's characteristics.

SNICKERS ... Our second boy, Mr. Snickerman, adopted from Animal Alliance NJ in winter 07. Snickers is a Chihuahua who is as sweet as can be. His passion is dragging toys & any clothing he can steal all over the house, and bringing his toys to us so we will play with him! His eyes shine red when any light hits them ... Scary huh?!?!

We're teaching him to flap his ears as fast as he can so he can learn to fly.

The boys adore each other.

I never have to clean ears in my brood, they all keep each other well groomed!

ABOUT TERRY
I am not from New Hope. I was born in 1951 BC (before computers) and raised in Philadelphia, PA where I grew up dreaming of places in the country where I knew I someday had to live. I needed trees, grass and dogs.
The local scenery looked different then of course, back in the 1950's. Sprawling farms nested in lush green hills, bumpy little narrow country roads that promised chickens, pigs, cows and horses around every corner.
I clearly remember the smells. Oh, those magnificent, sultry warm, green smells of fresh cut grass, hay, corn and even the manure. They all called to me.
Oh, those smells ...
Springtime smells so seductive ... that to a little girl who hated everything about the city, evoked dreams of the future and the day when the country would be mine to wake up to every day.
Well, it took me a very long time to get here. A lot more of that manure got in my way than I had anticipated.
But I am here now, for 21 years actually. No chickens, horses, pigs or cows. Instead, I have been blessed with my wonderful, best buddy, Lambertville raised husband (my very own Jersey Boy!)whom I met in New Hope - in John & Peter's to be exact, on April Fools Day 1988 ...
We have four canine furbabies, and about eight square feet of grass in front of my door with a little garden I carved out by hand over the years to hold a variety of orange flowers, my favorite color.
I so very much miss the way things were when I think back. All the things a Sunday trip to the country embodied
to an impressionable little girl with so many dreams ...
Truly a time gone by which we will never get back. What a frightful shame so few people will ever again see a real Bucks County farm, or smell the pure, intoxicating country air that has long since drifted into my memories.
Ahhh, life goes on.
I am a child of the 1950's BC ..
Before Computers.
